melaka: 88

If you have time for only one meal stop in Malacca, then i would definitely recommend Jonker Dessert 88 (also known as The Museum Cafe). Aside from the popular (and delicious, of course) Nyonya Assam Laksa and Chendol dessert, they also have a wonderful collections of antiques (or junks, to some people) that makes the place an interesting visit.

The humble shop front. On weekends, prepare to see long queues (one on each side of the stalls) outside the entrance.

The noodle stall on the right.

On the left is the dessert stall.

The popular chendol dessert. My sis loves this and it’s her must-eat dessert every trip.

Since i can’t take coconut milk, i had the ice-kachang instead. And yes, it’s really yummy! The thick gula melaka syrup (palm sugar) that they used tasted heavenly.

The super yummy Nyonya Assam Laksa – thick vermicelli, tuna, hard-boiled egg, prawn, beancurd skin & onion.

The place is usually packed on weekends. i was glad that we went on a Friday, it was quiet and relax. On weekends, it can be quite stressful to take pictures with people standing around waiting for seats.
